Latham- Jake E. Moore, 22, of Latham, passed away peacefully Saturday May 7, 2005 at his residence after a long and courageous battle. He was born in Puyallup, WA and has been a Latham resident for most of his life. He is the beloved son of Joseph and Robin Moore. He is the cherished brother of Joanna Moore (Matt Maxon). Loving grandson of Joseph and Joan Moore, of Waddington, NY, Robert & Frances Gioia of Pleasant Valley, NY; Great grandson of Iris Hall of Waddington, NY. He is also survived by many other relatives and close friends.
Jake was a gifted and inspirational young man. He had an endearing spirit that was always warm and inviting. He was recognized by Channel 13 as one of the Kids who Care. The recipient of the Jean Coon Humanitarian Award, he enjoyed his role as a spokesperson and volunteer with Make a Wish Foundation. Jake was an American Character Citizenship Award winner and ran as a honorable torch bearer for 2002 Winter Olympic when it passed through the Capital Region.
He was a talented athlete and played for North Colonie Pop Warner, and Little League where he was a member of the International All Star team. Jake was a 2002 graduate of Shaker High School and the Liebich Scholarship award winner. He was a member of the school track , baseball and football teams.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 11:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 950 New Loudon Rd. Latham, NY 12110 in memory of Jake E. Moore.
