James Anderson

March 20, 1926 — February 9, 2014

James Anderson, 87, of Guilderland, passed away on Sunday, February 09, 2014.

Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late James and Charlotte Anderson.

James proudly served with the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He worked for over 47 years with A & P in the Albany area, Vermont, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania until his retirement in 1991.

He enjoyed reading, golf, bridge, crossword puzzles, watching the NY Rangers, telling jokes and Friday breakfasts with his friends.

James was the beloved husband of 56 years to Vivian Anderson.

He is the devoted father of Christine Anderson and her partner, Carl Bucholt of Vermont, Janine Ralbovsky and her husband, James, and Kara Johnson, all of Schenectady, Laurene Manning and her husband, William, of Texas.
He is the brother of Charlotte Walrath.
James is the cherished grandfather of Ethan Snyder, Heather and Taylor Ralbovsky, Kevin and Kyle Johnson, Adam Tucker and Matthew Manning.
He is the brother-in-law of Gerri Dagostino, Joann Carlson and Barbara Carlson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian Anderson, his daughter, Deborah Anderson, and his son-in-law, Marc Johnson.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12304 in memory of James Anderson.
