Clifton Park- James Bae, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 26, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. James was born on February 8, 1942 in Daegu, South Korea. After earning his degree in Philosophy, James worked as an executive in Seoul, South Korea. In the early 1980's, James moved to the United States and raised his family, supporting his children to become medical doctors. After that, he took great joy in helping to raise his grandchildren. Religion took an important role in James' life, he was an active member of several churches. James especially enjoyed transcribing the bible for his grandchildren in his spare time, with copies in both English and Korean. James was a loving and compassionate husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by everyone who met him and will be deeply missed.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Grace (Lee) Bae; his two daughters: Dr. Katherine (Thomas) Hourigan and Dr. Jina Nocera; his beloved grandchildren: Eleanna, Alan, Ellarose and Mark. He is also survived by several close friends in Korea, especially Yubin's mother, father and aunt.
James was predeceased by his parents and his sister.
James' family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary's Hospital, especially, Nicole, Rebecca and Penelope for their loving care.
A Korean Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 9 am at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave, Albany, NY. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
