ALBANY- James "Jimmy" M. Carmody, age 69, passed away on April 18, 2021 after a long illness.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Francis and Virginia Carmody. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael.
Jimmy served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, after which he worked and volunteered at the Albany VA for as long as he was able.
Jimmy had a passion for music, especially the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
He was a published author and enjoyed a lifelong love of reading and writing with his family.
He was loved and will be missed.
Jimmy is survived by his siblings: Lillian (late Gene) Hughes, Thomas (Robin) Carmody, Linda (Steven) Hope, William (Susan) Carmody, Laura Carmody, Catherine (Michael) Carlson and Jean (Cosimo) Lorica. Jim is also survived by his uncle, Donald Carmody and his aunt, Patricia Carmody and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A service will follow at 12 Noon. Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
