Ballston Lake- James N. Chartier, 80, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Riverview, NY to the late Wilfred and Mary Chartier.
James was valedictorian of Salaz Academy at the age of seventeen. He immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served proudly for 3 years. Following his honorable discharge, James worked for the NYS Department of Labor until his retirement after many years. In his retirement, He enjoyed playing pinochle and telling stories about the farm. James cherished spending time with his family.
James is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Chartier; his children, Suzanne (Bill) Gilday, James (Johanna) Chartier, David (Lorie) Chartier, Steven (Leanne) Chartier, Jennifer Cardinal, and Nelson Chartier; grandchildren, Jesse, Christian, Joseph, Stephanie, Matthew, Alyssa, Emily, Michael, Ashlyn, and Ella Grace; great-grandchildren, Lily, Alex, and Evelyn; his siblings, Edward Chartier, Frederick Chartier, William Chartier; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Michael Chartier; his sisters, Valida, Theresa, and Louise; and his brothers, Joseph, Alfred, Richard, and Andrew.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 11am to 12pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. A service will immediately follow at 12pm. Interment will take place at 2:30pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Bernard and Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center.
