Albany- James A. Cooper Sr., 81, passed away peacefully at the Stratton VA Medical Center on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances E. Cooper. He is predeceased by his son, Jeffry A. Cooper.
Jim was born in Chestertown, NY and proudly served his country in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, Jim went on to work for the United States Postal Service as a Supervisor retiring after 25 plus years of service. Jim volunteered at the VFW Wigand Post for many years where he served tirelessly to help other Veterans.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children, James A. Cooper Jr., John A. Cooper, Joseph A. Cooper (Sofia) and daughter in law Lisa Cooper. Jim is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206. Interment will follow mass at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
