James E. Cordell passed away peacefully at home on April 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family and the music he adored.
James was born on August 25, 1936 to Edward J and Helen Cordell. He graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany NY. He had a 40+ year career with Niagara Mohawk Power Company. He was also a member of the Colonie Fire Company for over 50 years and held many different officer positions, including assistant chief, and made many life-long friends.
James was married to the love of his life, Dorothy Clute Cordell, for 59 years. They settled and raised their family in the Village of Colonie which they loved. James (Jim) loved watching planes and trains and enjoyed saying Hi to the neighbors and neighborhood dog walkers. He was immensely proud of his children and enjoyed attending all of their music concerts, most recently with the Guilderland Town Band where they all played. He was their biggest fan.
James will be missed by his children Edward Cordell (Deborah Doyle), Therese Cordell (Richard Doyle), Catherine McGee (William McGee), Daniel Cordell (Michelle Cordell), and Suzanne Strakosh-Kochersberger (Carl Kochersberger); Grandchildren: Megan, Emily, Matthew, McKenzie, Mel, Benjamin, James, William, Cooper, and Liana; and great-grandchildren Joseph, Jenna, Noah, Jacob and Kelsey. He is also loved by his sisters Carol Goliber and Michelle "Micki" McAllister and their families.
The family wishes to thank The Community Hospice for their support and assistance at the end of the journey.
