James "Jimmy" Thomas Crawford Jr. 81 of Albany, NY passed away peacefully at Shaker Place Nursing Home on October 6, 2022. Jimmy resided in his house at 28 Cadillac Ave where he lived until he was admitted into a nursing home. Born in High Point, NC on April 4th, 1941.
Jimmy came to New York by way of his father, and Father Young, who also took him under his wing. Jimmy's, father taught him the trade of concrete finishing and all aspects of construction work to him. He started out independent contracting through family, then moved on and worked for Cianbro Construction, and in 1996 began working for Laborer's local 190 until he retired in 2003.
Jimmy was a family man and was a devoted husband to his wife and children. In his younger years, he played tennis, basketball, and enjoyed fishing. Jimmy loved watching football and his team was the NY Giants.
Jimmy was Catholic born and raised, He was an altar boy growing up and was a faithful member of" Shrine Church of our Lady of Americas" in earlier years known as "St. Patrick's Church".
Jimmy is survived by his three daughters Leesa Crawford, Crystal Crawford-Doyle (Scott)and Jamie Crawford-Gentile(Paul). Six siblings; Tyrone Crawford (Dannie) of Albany NY, Sharon Crawford- Johnson of Charlotte, NC. Elwyn Crawford of Charlotte, NC. And Vernice Crawford of Charlotte, NC.
Many half siblings, as well as children whom he cherished , along with his in-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
Jimmy was predeceased by his wife of 58 years , Barbara Crawford, on April 25th, 2021. Two sisters, Nina Crawford-Nicholson, and Cynthia Crawford-Caldwell both of High point NC.
