ROTTERDAM, NY – James Donald Schultz, 74, of Rotterdam, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2009 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Rose Dietz and Joseph Schultz. He was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and attended Albany Business College. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. He worked for A&P Markets for 30 years and also worked for P&C Markets from where he retired. After his retirement, Jim worked at Northway Auto Exchange and then at New Comer-Cannon Funeral home as a pallbearer and driver where he assisted on many funerals. He was a member of the Rotterdam Elks and Trinity Reformed Church where he served as a deacon and elder. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Shirley Biittig Schultz. He is the devoted father of Kristin (Mike) Cornell and Karlene (Brian) Ball. Jim is the cherished grandfather of KellyAnne Cornell and Kyle James Cornell.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Reformed Church, Rotterdam. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 28th at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Trinity Reformed Church, 705 Curry Rd., Rotterdam, NY 12306, the Stratton VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208, or the KellyAnne and Kyle Cornell Trust Fund c/o Trustco Bank in memory of James D.
