Latham – James Luther Delmar, 67, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
James was born August 22, 1949 in Brownwood TX, and was the son of the late James and Zella Jo Delmar. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, James served our country aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Vietnam War. Baptized in the Baptist Church, James matured in his faith in the 1980's by joining a non-denominational Christian church, taking a Bible class, and committing a year of his life to sharing the Gospel in upstate New York. There, he met his future wife, asked her to marry him 3 months later, and they enjoyed many years of like-minded Christian faith together.
James worked in many different capacities at Living Hope Community Church to which he and his wife belonged. He helped build the church building, designed posters for classes, built a closet and stage, worked in the audio visual booth, and helped set up or clean up as necessary. He was also a material coordinator for Albany Medical Center where he worked for over 25 years. He was well respected by co-workers, supervisors, and administration.
A quiet man, James had a peaceful manner that was soothing and healing to be around. He had a tender heart, especially loved children and babies, and was a true servant of the Lord - always sensitive to what people around him needed. He also enjoyed gently teasing those he cared about. Intelligent and observant, he loved re-inventing the wheel in new and interesting ways. It was well known that he could be counted on to solve problems, and fix almost anything. He was enamored with lighting, extension cords, tools of all kinds, music, photography, and considered himself rich when surrounded by family. He held onto his faith until the end, is awaiting his Lord's return and the coming Kingdom. He will be dearly missed.
James is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Kym (Harkins) Delmar; his children, Christine (Domingo) Cisnero of Rowlett, TX, Megan (Jerry) Colley of Albany, NY and David "Ben" (Amy) Clarke of North Tonawanda, NY; his 9 beloved grandchildren, Anthony (Christina), Zachary (Brittany), Matthew James and Lauren Cisnero; Amanda, Heather and Jillian Colley; Daniella and Maegan Clarke; James also readily took on the role of Grandpa to a number of foster grandchildren; his baby brother, Jay "Jaybird" (Gloria) Delmar of Wylie, TX; as well as several nieces, a nephew, extended family, and friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate James' life will be held at 7 pm, Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Living Hope Community Church, 458 Old Niskayuna Road, Latham NY 12110. A private interment with military honors will be held for the immediate family at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Friday, July 14.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
I John 3:2 (KJV)
