James DeSacia passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2023. Born on September 5, 1944 and raised in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. He was the beloved husband of Nuala DeSacia, for over 54 years. Nuala predeceased him just over 3 months ago. He met Nuala in Paris, France while he was stationed there with the US Air Force and she had left Ireland to work there. James and Nuala married and raised 4 children, Eamon (Caryn/Max), Colette (Mike) Gallagher, Colin (Maryann) and Ian (Huma). He had 9 grandchildren that were all very special to him; Hannah, Aidan and Jack Gallagher, Morgan, Ryan, Avery and Amaal DeSacia and Ryan and Alex Schachter.
He was very proud of his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved attending sporting events and all activities that his four children and grandchildren participated in. He was always the loudest fan present and cheering. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame football. Nothing else in life took precedence over watching the game and he usually invited all the family and neighbors over to watch with him. The numerous stories and jokes he told will be greatly missed.
James had a keen appreciation of nature, flowers, and the mountains and lakes in the Adirondacks. In his younger years he enjoyed hiking, canoeing, camping and long bike rides with the family.
He loved traditions, especially around the holidays. He loved a ham dinner with candied yams, Easter egg hunts and Christmas stockings full of old fashioned toys and trinkets.
James worked as a computer technician for Honeywell and General Electric and was a proud member of the U.S. Air Force. He was the first born child of Edward James DeSacia and Anna Rose McGuire DeSacia. He had three siblings: Suzie, Donald (Deb), and Nancy. James was predeceased by his wife Nuala, son Eamon, sister in law Sheelagh, brother Don, brother in law Noel, nephew Brian McGarry and grandson Alex Schachter.
Many thanks to those that provided care for him and reached out to check in on him since Nuala's passing. He was appreciative of the supportive messages, texts and cards he received. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in James' name to the American Heart Association.
