COLONIE – James F. Melucci, 83, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. James was born in Albany and was the son of the late Salvatore and Rose (Cologna) Melucci.
James served in the US Army from 1945 to 1946; he then enlisted in the Air Force from 1946 to 1959, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He owned and operated Melucci's Tavern in Colonie and volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed swimming and jogging.
James is survived by his loving children, Nancy (Daniel) McDonough, Susan (Joseph) Trudeau, and Martin J. Melucci; his cherished grandchildren, Heather McDonough, Sarah Stevens, and Samantha Stevens; his cherished great-granddaughter, Emeallia McDonough; his devoted nephew, Arthur Taylor; his brother, Salvatore Melucci; his sister, Angeline (Edward) Sickles and several aunts, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor H. Melucci; his brothers, Michael and Daniel Melucci and his sisters, Josephine Taylor and Mary Dasiukiewicz.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A calling hour will precede the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.
