Albany – James Nish, 85, passed away Friday September 12, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn.
Jim was born in Hudson, NY the son of the late Edward and Helen (Cleary) Nish. He graduated from LaSalle Institute and was a long time capital district resident. He owned and operated his own Dry Wall Company, By James Inc., for over 60 years. He proudly served in US Army during WW II under the leadership of Mark Clark in the North African Campaign. Jim was a former member of the St. Andrew's Society, a Cub Scout and Webelo leader, a member of Eamon's Sunday night regulars and involved with the Office of Economic Oppurtunity (OEO). He was also very active in local athletics, having participated in the Averill Park High School Boosters, Twin Town Little League and Babe Ruth, Capital District Connie Mack and an assistant baseball coach for the College of St. Rose. Jim's wife, Margaret (Campbell) Nish, predeceased him in 1998.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Margo A. Nish and his son Jay F. (Wendi) Nish;
his loving grandchildren, Mackenzie, Gabriel, Kerrigan, Ella and Elliot. He is also survived by his niece Mary Theresa and his nephews, Mark and Trent.
Funeral services will be Monday at 9:00 am at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, New York (rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) then to St. Henry's Church, Averill Park, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Calling hours will be Sunday 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be St. Henry's Cemetery, Averill Park.
