ALBANY, NY – James V. Futia, 76, died peacefully on December 30, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Albanian, Jim was the son of the late Anthony and Catherine Caricari Futia. Jim attended St. John's High School and was a member of the International Brothers of Electrical Workers (IBEW Local 724), IBEW Retirees Club, BPOE #49 and a communicant of Holy Cross Church in Albany. Jim was employed and retired from J.N. Futia Co., Inc. of Albany. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mildred Muiccio Futia; his daughter, Lisa Faine Mazza of Albany and his son, Vincent (Cheryl) Futia of Guilderland; his grandchildren, Cody, Jesse, Dalton and Katherine Futia of Guilderland and Jerry Faine of Albany; his brother, Francis Futia of Delmar; his sister, Pearl (Nick) Sparagna of Utica, as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mona Bowen, Angeline McDermott, Rosemary Cataldo, Jane Futia, Ann Murgia and his brother, Joseph N. Futia. Jim's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Oncology & Hematology and Oncology Radiation departments of St. Peter's Hospital and Community Hospice for the support and care they gave Jim and his family. Our heartfelt thanks to Sister Helen Charles, RSM and Father Daniel Mahar of Holy Cross Church for their spiritual guidance and home visits.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 8:15 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Holy Cross Church at 9:00 a.m.where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels, Colonie.
