James G. Espey

COLONIE – James G. Espey, 79, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
James was born on December 11, 1926 in Albany and was the son of the late Thomas and Florence Steele Espey, Sr. He served in the US Navy during WWII attaining the rank of motor machinist's mate third class.
James was a roofer with Local 241 in Albany for over 20 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Mohawk Post #1450 of the American Legion in Halfmoon and an honorary member of the Halfmoon Fire Department. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, camping and snowmobiling.
James is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen J. (Davies) Espey. Father of Barbara J. (Ron) Pugh of Scotia and the late Debra Lee Espey. Grandfather of Kerri D. Pugh and Kristen Lee (Eric) Duen. Brother of Florence Knighton, David Espey, Laura Moore, Helen (Robert) Cornell, Sarah (Jack) Tate, and Donald (Crystal) Espey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Thomas Espey and sisters, Ruth Metzger and Mary Hitchcock.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
