James G. Toomey

LAKE LUZERNE – James G. Toomey, 83, formerly of Westerlo, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Glens Falls Hospital.
James was born on February 13, 1924 in Albany and was the son of the late James and Agnes E. Faas Toomey. He served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1948, attaining the rank of aviation machinist's mate second class.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth C. Toomey of Lake Luzerne, NY. Jim graciously spent his life lovingly raising Elizabeth's brothers after their fathers death.
Those brothers are Ronald E. (Wanda) Zeh of Short Mountain, TN, Joseph P. Zeh of Worthington, MA and Richard G. (Susan) Zeh of Lake Luzerne, NY. Predeceased brothers are Raymond S. Zeh, Robert L. Zeh and Douglas A. Zeh.
The brothers Clark E. (Delores) Zeh of Delmar, NY and Clinton J. (Fran) Zeh of Feura Bush, NY provided support and assistance to James and Elizabeth. He is predeceased by Harold H. (Mary) Zeh, Virginia M. (Edward) Caufield and Hazel E. (William) Skilling who also provided support and assistance to James and Elizabeth.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Zeh; his nieces, Elizabeth, Karen, and Annie; many "grandchildren", "great-grandchildren" and "great-great-grandchildren" and several grand nieces and grand nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, William (Anne) Toomey.
He was a senior audit clerk for the NYS Department of Audit Control for 20 years before retiring in 1989.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Memory's Garden, Colonie.
