SLINGERLANDS- James "JP" Patrick Gavin, 51; After a 14
month battle with stage 4 terminal GBM brain cancer JP found
peace at home surrounded by his family on Friday May 19th at
10:00 PM.
JP was born in Albany, NY on July 23, 1965 to James and Joan
Gavin.
JP was an artist, poet, painter, carpenter, chef and most of all
father and husband. He was a world traveler that settled back at
home with wife and soulmate Margaret Ann Carciobolo.
Throughout the years, JP worked on his own construction
business and together with his wife Margaret developed Nicole's
Restaurant a thriving boutique restaurant to a premier catering
company for our region.
Any time he was not working, JP could be found boating with his
family and friends on Lake George, fishing, bow-hunting, hiking,
rock climbing, wind surfing, clamming, or cooking for a crowd
that he was always more inclined to entertain and teach rather
than take time to himself.
On the outside JP was very handsome and charming, on the
inside he was filled with light and love. He played so many roles
in life and each one of which was just as important as the other.
He chose to manage his illness privately with his family and
those closest to him. Everyone's love, support, and compassion
shown to JP was appreciated more than words can describe.
Beloved by many, we will miss him with all our hearts. When he
passed, he did so in his loving wife's arms.
JP is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret, his four children, J.
Quinten Gavin, Dylan P. Gavin, Alivia A. Gavin, and Ethan D.
Gavin, his father, Father James P. Gavin Sr, his Brother, Scott
Kelley, his Sister, Susan Kelley, and countless friends and family.
JP is predeceased by his mother, Joan Beverly (Putnam) Gavin.
