Albany – James H. Terry, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday October 12, 2010 at the Beaumont Nursing Center in Northbridge, Mass.
James was born in Amsterdam, NY on October 20, 1916 a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Doak) Terry, moved to Albany as a young man and has resided here since. He served in the US Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theatre and was employed with the NY State Employees' Retirement System from 1937 to 1978. James enjoyed gardening, traveling, spending time with his family and had a lasting devotion to his faith and to those with whom he worshiped. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Florence (Ostrander) Terry, their son James E. Terry, his step-son Winston S. Kaye, sister Florence Young and brothers Jonathan and Gerald Terry.
He is survived by his wife Lois (Kaye) Terry, sons Robert J. Terry (Mary Ann) and Ronald C. Terry (Sharon Kielty), step-daughter Patricia Kaye, grandchildren: Robert S. Terry (Christine), James "Slim" Terry, Jr. (Mary), Jill Evanchuck (Mark), Kevin Terry (Jill), Michael Terry and Bryan Terry and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his daughters-in-law Karen (Secor) Terry and Janice (Forenzo) Terry and brother-in-law Seymour Young.
The family would like to thank the staff of both the Beaumont Nursing Center and Colonie Manor Nursing Home for the care and compassion shown to James.
The funeral service will be held Saturday 1:00pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd. , Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden Cemetery.
