COLONIE - It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of our beloved father and friend, James Halburian, 95, of Colonie on Saturday, March 4th 2023.
Dad was born to Harry and Lucy (Bedecian) Halburian on Sunday, October 2, 1927. He was reunited with his wife and our mother, Marilou (Bilicki), his son and our brother Lee, granddaughter Kristi Lynn Link and his 2nd wife, Dorothy (Wagoner).
Dad graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, after which he joined the Army to serve in WWII. Upon his return, he worked at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady as an engineer in MAO Operations until his retirement.
Dad was a ham radio operator and served on the RACES response team for most of his life. He enjoyed doing odd jobs, working in his garden, and hanging out with his four-legged buddy, Haggard. Dad treasured his time with family and friends, especially his niece's picnics, being on the lake with his nephew, family gatherings, and Sunday dinners with us.
Our father lived his life with conviction, compassion and authenticity. He spoke his truth, loved unconditionally, and put the needs of others before his own. Dad was a good friend and those who knew him have fond memories and many stories of their time together.
Dad is survived by his sons Mark (Valerie) and Dale Halburian, his daughter Lynn McLaughlin; his grandchildren Jennifer, Amy (Greg), Sarah, Beth (Kevin), Erin (Clarence), Ian (Jessica), and Briana (Steve), 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his bodyguard, Haggard.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Wednesday, March 15 from 4-7 pm with a service at the funeral home on Thursday, March 16 at 11 am. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Albany. Online condolences may be expressed at www.NewComerAlbany.com
Dad, we love you. You will live in our hearts always.
