James Leslie Haworth III – (September 29, 1943 – December 13, 2021).
James Leslie Haworth III, born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri was 78 years old when he passed away suddenly at his home in Rensselaer, NY.
He is survived by his son, James Lance Haworth, and 3 sisters, Debra Eisenhower, Dottie Worbel, and Kate Faust. Also survived by Eric Guldfeldt, Sheila (Steve) Wagenbaugh, Benjamin Dougrey, Jessica Dougrey, Megan Eisenhower, Laura Eisenhower, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, James Haworth II, his mother, Betty Smith, and 2 brothers, Irvin Ellsworth Haworth, and Steve Worbel. Also predeceased two months ago by Shirley Elizabeth Haworth, his wife of 51 years.
James graduated from Sunbury High School in Sunbury, Pennsylvania in 1961. James and Shirley were married on June 13, 1970. He started an office cleaning business, Abdon Services Inc., based in Rensselaer from 1970-2001. He then became a custodian for the Rensselaer City School District until retiring in 2019. There he was known by his nickname "Doc". James' hobbies included being a race car driver in the local circuits, creating stained glass art, beekeeping, collecting coins, and auto repair.
James was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 52 years and was associated with the Rensselaer, NY congregation.
James will be missed by many family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
