James M. Hughes

James M. Hughes, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home.
James was the son of the late James and Viola Hughes.
James proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during 1948 to 1952.
He worked for Niagara Mohawk as a foreman in the gas department for over 35 years.
James enjoyed fishing on Saratoga Lake and traveling with his family. He kept an annual vegetable garden, was an avid reader and was interested in history.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two wives; Shirley and Joyce Hughes and his sister, Elizabeth Howland.
James is survived by his children; David (Janis) Hughes and Diane Hughes. His sister Linda (John Linn) Hughes and his step children; Michael (Lynn) Zipkin, David (Cindi Vaccaro) Zipkin and Rhonda Granito. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 11:30 am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the DAV Charitable Service Trust, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076 in James memory.
