COLONIE – James J. Ferraro, 80, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Albany after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Catherine Ferraro. Jim lived in Colonie for most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. Mr. Ferraro first worked in the construction business, then for Wal-Mart, Price Chopper, Richard Rossetti and Sealy Mattress. Jim is the beloved husband of 53 years to Lorene T. (Decker) Ferraro. He is the cherished brother of Marion R. Ferraro of Colonie and the late Joseph J., Frank J. and Louis J. Ferraro and Catherine Murgia. He is the devoted uncle of Joan Purcell and Jean (Peter) Platt. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 8:45 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Christ Our Light Church (formerly St. Francis de Sales) at 9:30 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northeastern Association of the Blind, 301 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12203 in memory of James J. Ferraro.
