Malinski, James J. CLIFTON PARK James J. Malinski, 86, was welcomed into Gods hands on April 21, 2016, surrounded by his family. Jim was one of the first graduates of Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, and formerly educated at Albany's Schuyler High School. In the early 1960's, he began work at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories (KAPL) in West Milton's Kesserling Reactor site and Niskayuna, and helped establish the first nuclear reactor in Minnesota. Jim's work with radioactive materials as a radiation safety technician continued at the Watervliet Arsenal Benet Labs. He retired in the mid 1990's, and was recognized for his donation of historical documents to the Watervliet Arsenal's museum. In the early 1980's, Jim was president of the Health Physics Society Northeastern New York chapter, which led to the information field in the effect of radiation on human health. Jim was a master carpenter, and crafted pieces for his family and craft shows. Along with woodworking, he enjoyed the horse track, casinos, vacationing, holidays with family, caring for his home and family and time with friends and relatives. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Marie Nardolillo and Anthony Malinski; his daughter Kathleen Rivera; and his granddaughter Anna Altman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Joan (Boggild) and brother Robert Malinski (Joan), of Albany. His children, James K. Malinski of Averill Park, Cheryl Condos and Mary Beth Delarm of Saratoga Springs, Darcy (Bruce) Altman of New Haven, Lynn Paolantonio (Sal) of Moorestown, and Amy Culhane (Ed) of Scotia. Pa's fun and proud spirit will live on with his grandchildren, Jennifer Mulligan, Kimberly and Steven Malinski, Kristin Condos, Kate Norton, Lee and Nicholas Delarm, Zoe, Kyle and Sarah Paolantonio, Alex and Eric Bekkering and Eddie and Joshua Culhane. Memories of PaPa will also remain with his five great- grandchildren, Samantha, Seraphina, Kira, Ben and Jameson. Jim's caring heart will also be remembered by many friends and family in Buffalo. Services are Sunday, April 24, at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie from 2-4 p.m. with a prayer memorial service from 4-5 p.m. Graveside services will be on Tuesday April 26, at 11 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Rd.
