Glenmont- James Joseph Jones "Jonesie", 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 29, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Walter and Vivian Jones. James was the devoted husband to Charlotte A. Jones. They were married 62 years.
After graduating from high school, James joined the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge. He works as a teamster truck driver for Blueline Express, Carman Trucking, and August Bohl Contracting until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed working as an electrician.
Jonesie enjoyed spending time with his entire family and making his annual home made spaghetti sauce and delicious home made apple pies for them. He and Charlotte were avid slot machine players. One of his favorite things to do was to tell stories at family gatherings to his children and grandchildren. He will be most well remembered for his fond love of bothering Tony.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Walter D. (Fran) Jones, Donna A. (Michael) Carkner, Lisa M. (Mike) Marsh, Sherry L. Cavallaro, Barbara J. (Tony) Murray, Stacey M. (Michael) Johnson; grandchildren, Shay, Brandon, Kiersten, Tyler, Amanda, Courtney, Zachery, and Thomas; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Kayden, and Coleton; sister, Mary E. Jones; sister-in-law, Eleanor J. ElletsonGalligan and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, James is predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Warchol; son-in-law, Mathew Miller; and siblings, Laurence W. Jones and Ellen M. Jones.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Thursday May 6, 2021 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with a funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow the service at Calvary Cemetery. Gathering size within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
