SCHENECTADY- James "Jim" L. Horn, Sr., 75, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Port Jervis, NY, he was a Schenectady resident for over 30 years.
A veteran of the Korean War, Jim served in the Air Force for 8 years after graduating from Nott Terrace High School. He retired from Freihofer's Bakery in Albany, where he was a supervisor for over 20 years. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Yankee and Giants fan.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Gladys Horn; his wife of 25 years, Josephine Horn, and brothers Bernard "Bernie" Horn and Arthur "Skip" Horn.
His is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Salvatore) Randazzo of Latham; son James Horn, Jr. of Florida; step-children Christine (Rip) Brown of Schenectady and Matthew Baim of Esperance; sisters Phyllis Johnson and Shirley Colton and brother Marshall (Bucky) Horn. He was the loving grandfather of Jacqueline (Dave Floud) Horn, Frank Conte, Brian Conte, Nicholas Conte and D'Anthony Baim. Jim was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great-grandson, Bryce. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a military graveside service on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11:00 am at Schenectady Memorial Park, 566 Giffords Church Road, Schenectady. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 in Jim's name.
