James M. McDonough, 64, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2014 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.
Jim was born February 26, 1950, in Troy, NY., the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Cummings) McDonough.
Jim was a graduate of Bishop Ludden High School in Syracuse, NY; he received his Bachelors degree for the University of Dayton, OH. and then his Masters Degree in Human Service Administration from Antioch/New England Graduate School in Keene, NH. His career spanned 40 years in Human Services, working for such agencies as Residential Opportunities Inc., RSS, and Hillcrest Educational Center. He concluded his career as an Adult Education Teacher for Questar III.
He enjoyed traveling, especially to Cape Cod, loved watching the NY Giants; reading, music, movies, photography and spending time with his friends and family.
Jim is survived by his brother, Robert (Kathleen) McDonough, his sister Patricia McDonough; his niece and nephews; Erin and Daniel and William McDonough. He is also survived by his Aunt Peggy Reilly, his cousins; Kathy (George) Butterstein, Timothy (Mary Ellen) Reilly, Suzanne (Art) DeFruscio, Joanne (Ted) Dennis; and his dear friends, Donna Ford, Rich Spence, Daltrey Turner, Sherry and Ken Boult, Barb Pettengill, Cheryl Murray and many other close friends and coworkers.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Northeast Health Foundation c/o the School of Nursing, 2224 Burdett Ave., Troy, NY 12180 in Jim's memory.
Funeral Service will be on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 1:00 pm at New Comer funeral home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
