Albany - James T. "Jim" Mann, 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Jim was born in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Louis F., Sr. and Claire Mann. Jim is a proud veteran of the US Navy.
Jim worked for the NYS DOCS as a Corrections Officer for the Attica Correctional Facility. Jim was a "strong union supporter" and served as V.Pres/Pres. of AFSCME Local 1040. He served as V.Pres-Council 82 and later became staff for the Council. He then returned to Coxsackie Correctional Facility until his retirement.
Jim was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. He enjoyed music and traveling with his wife, Connie. His furry companions, Rocky and Princess, will greatly miss him.
He is survived by his wife, Connie, of 34 years; his children, Eleana Ellis and Mickey Mann of Elmira; his two step sons, Randall (Michelle) Hollander and Timothy Hollander of Buffalo. Jim is also survived by four brothers, Louis F, Jr. (Donna) Mann, Richard Mann, Thomas Mann and Jon (Harveen) Mann; his five grandchildren, Casey, Liam, Zachary, Emma and Samuel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitations will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 10:00 am.
Donations may be made in Jim's memory to St. Peter's Hospice Inn and Menands Animal Shelter.
