ALBANY- James "Jim" S. Masters, 92, died Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Hudson Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.
Born and raised in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Sterling and Margery Masters and brother of Martha Jean Younger (James) of Grand Junction, CO.
Jim served in the Air Force and lived in Alaska, earned his Ph.D. in Education at UMKC, and went on for two more years of study in Wisconsin before entering the priesthood of the Episcopal Church.
Later, he became a tenured education professor at Rocky Mountain College, Billings, MT. Jim was active in many aspects of his communities, including the Billings Coalition for Human Rights, the League of Women Voters, Planned Parenthood, the Albany Damien Center, the Albany Gay and Lesbian Community Center and the Journal of Psychohistory, among others, and at times wrote and published the Dove newsletter covering issues of peace and social justice.
He was the husband of 55 years of the late Ardyce L. Masters of Albany, father of Anne V. Masters (Michael F. McCarthy) of Albany, NY, Robert Masters (Fern) of Brookville, MD, and the late Margaret E. Masters; grandfather of Benjamin Morgan, Jordan, Andrew and Jillian Masters, and great-grandfather of a soon-to-be-born Masters.
Relatives and friends will be invited to join an as-yet unscheduled Zoom memorial.
