Lansingburgh -
James Robert (Bobby) Matthews Jr., passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021 at 64 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bobby was born on November 11, 1956 to the late James Robert Matthews Sr. and Dorothy (Smith) Matthews. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister, Robin Farrell and her husband, James and their children, Ashley (Douglas) Nathe, Courtney (Michael) Morris, James Farrell Jr. and Matthew Farrell. Bobby is also survived by his beloved great nephew, Hayden Nathe and great nieces, Harper Morris and Scarlett Nathe.
Bobby was raised in Lansingburgh and upon graduating from Lansingburgh High School lived in Florida for several years before returning home. Bobby was a long time employee of Price Chopper on Madison Avenue in Albany as a meat cutter. He enjoyed spending time with family including trips to the Bahamas as well as several Caribbean cruises and trips to Atlantic City. He loved a good game of golf and enjoyed many tournaments with friends both locally and in Virginia Beach. He loved the NY Yankees, and the LA Rams. His family will forever remember the BBQ's, family game nights and his beautiful heart.
We will not be hosting a service at this time. There will be a celebration of life for family and friends at a later date.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice and the nurses at Samaritan Hospital who so compassionately cared for Bobby. Contributions in his memory may be made to The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
