James Everett McAdoo, Sr. unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on October 27, 2022, surrounded by his family.
James was born on October 18, 1948, in High Point, NC to Paul Ennis McAdoo, Sr. and Johnsie Mae McAdoo-Evans. He was educated in the NC and Albany school systems and often enjoyed getting together with his classmates and friends.
He was previously married to Velma Wilkins McAdoo, and from that union he was blessed with two children, James Jr. and Brandee.
He was employed at Albany Medical Center for over 50 years, recently making the decision to retire as a Cytotechnician.
He was an avid athlete and self-taught in the sports of baseball, basketball, football, bowling, and golf, excelling at all.
He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed immensely.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving children James Jr. and Brandee, longtime companion Clara Jackson, close friend and mother of his children Velma Wilkins McAdoo, siblings, Mary Pearlene, Paul Jr., and Johnsie Marie. Grandchildren, JaNai, Kanairi, Quinten, Justin, Jalen and JaeAna; Goddaughter, Tenesha Norwood, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Paul Sr. and Johnsie Marie, sisters, Anne Pruitt and Alice LaVerne McAdoo, and his mother-in-law Winnie Viola Wilkins.
Funeral viewing hours will be held November 9, 2022, from 9:00AM - 11:00 AM at the Mt. Olive Southern Missionary Baptist Church, 236 North Pearl Street, Albany NY 12206. Funeral Services will begin promptly at 11:00 AM.
