James H. Meyer, Jr. 59, "Our Flower Guy", It is with sadness that we announce "Our Angel in Orange" has taken his final bow on March 5, 2024.
Born on March 31, 1964, he was the son of the late James Sr. and Patricia Meyer.
He graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1982 and received his college Theatre Arts degree from the Junior College of Albany. He was the founding father of Family Players of NENY and appeared on many stages throughout the Capital Region. He was the owner of PJ's Petals and Plaids flower shop in Colonie, and always had a fondness for the color orange. He also spent time working at Pedrick's Floral in Scotia, and opened floral departments for ShopRite stores in the Albany area.
James was a mentor to many, and friend to all. He directed the musicals at Rensselaer, and Stillwater high schools and lended his vocals to the Broadway Cast Revival album of "Pippin."
James is survived by his soulmate and "Best Dude" Brad O'Hare, his life partner Lisa (Dr. Martin) Kipp, his "work wife" and friends Carol (Tom) Tommell, and his brother and sister-in-law, Scott (Marge) Meyer. He also leaves behind several cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205 and a celebration of life on Wednesday, March 13th at 11:00 am at the funeral home with interment at Memory Gardens.
As a final wish, he requested his services to be a "Sea of Orange" - Donations in his memory can be made to Mac-Haydn Theatre, Chatham, NY.
