Schenectady-James "Jim" V. Nagell, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Baptist Health Nursing & Rehab.
Born on January 18, 1927 in Troy, a son of the late Harold and Helen (Saunders) Nagell. A lifelong resident of the area. Jim served in the Merchant Marines. After 36 years, Jim retired as a Machinist from General Electric.
Jim was a life member of the Stanford Heights Fire Department and a member of the St. George's Masonic Lodge. He will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors; camping, fishing and hunting were just a few of his favorite past times. Jim loved stained glass and would often make his own; he was an avid bowler with various leagues and participated in the Senior Olympics.
Jim is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Galbraith Nagell.
Jim is survived by his sons, Tim Nagell (Sharon) of Niskayuna and Jeff Nagell (MaryJo) of Town of Florida; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his sisters, Harriett Gercak and Virginia Casino.
A private burial for Jim will be held at the convenience of the family at Cortland Rural Cemetery, Cortland.
