James H. “Jim” Netzer, 72, son of the late Henry and Mary Margaret (Krug) Netzer, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Born on December 15, 1951 in Albany NY.
After High School, Jim went on to study Accounting, and retired after nearly a 40 year career from NY State Department of Transportation in Albany NY. Jim loved music and was a DJ at WGNA and WTRY. He was an avid photographer, observing his surroundings and capturing beautiful moments.
He was a dedicated member and lay minister at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Clifton Park for 22 years. His work with the confirmation classes and King’s Clown Troupe through the years endeared him to generation of youth. Jim also served the Upstate New York Synod as a Synod Authorized Minister (SAM) for many years, supply preaching in local congregations. Most recently he served Gilead Lutheran Church in Center Brunswick as their Assigned SAM providing pastoral leadership and care to the congregation while they were without a pastor.
Jim is survived by his loving daughter Kimberly (Kevin) Lauster; his three grandchildren, Cheyanne, Jason Jr., and Mykenzie; his longtime companion of 30 years, Alycia Harrison. He is also survived by his sister Barbara.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother Butch, and his sisters Margaret.
Friends and family are invited to attend Visitation on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 10:00am - 12:00pm with a Funeral Service to begin at 12:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie NY.
