CLIFTON PARK - James R. Dashnaw, 77, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
James was born on August 2, 1928 in Lackawanna, PA and was the son of the late James and Florence Pelkey Dashnaw.
James served in the US Army Air Force from 1946 to 1949, attaining the rank of Corporal.
James was a foreman for General Electric in Schenectady for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He also was a service representative for Pitney Bowes in Colonie for 9 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Schenectady and enjoyed playing the piano and organ, computers and electronic gadgets.
James is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Loretta R. (deGonzague) Dashnaw; his children, James, Thomas, Cheryl, Robert and Lisa; his step sons, Anthony, Frank, Michael and James; his brothers, Francis, Richard and Kenny and his sister, Patricia. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Calling hours will be held at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of James Dashnaw.
