James A. Rowe

May 2, 1939 — April 27, 2021

Schenectady- James A. Rowe, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 with loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Alberta Abar and Stewart Rowe. James was the devoted husband to Marie A. Rowe. They were married 58 years.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Rotterdam, New York and after graduating Draper High School he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, Jim became an electrician and proudly celebrated 50 years as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 2019.

"Roach" as he was lovingly referred to by his wife or "One Beer Jim" by his friends, was never seen without a baseball hat or his fannel shirt. He enjoyed the horse races, casino, scratch-offs, a good laugh and 'one beer' or vodka & cranberry with his friends.

James enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren teaching them about his baseball and coin collections. He also loved feeding the birds and squirrels in his yard and Pepper, companion to both Jim & Marie was never far from his side right up until the time of his passing.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Tina Williams, Tamie Filkins, Timothy Rowe and Todd Rowe as well as his 5 grandchildren, Christopher Rowe, Megan, Sara, Jacklyn and Jenna Williams. And his best friend Pepper.

A celebration of life will take place Friday, June 25, 2021 from 4-7. Drop in at South Schenectady Fire Department, Address: 6 Old Mariaville Rd, Schenectady, NY 12306. All are welcome.
