Loudonville- James-Seamus T. Egan Sr., 78, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
Seamus was born on February 11, 1938 to the late John and Eileen Egan in Pettigo, County Donegal, Ireland. In the late 1950's Seamus relocated to the US where he joined his brothers in New York. While living in Yonkers, NY he met the love of his life, the late Marjorie Egan. They were married for over 50 years. In 1976, with his family, he moved to Latham, NY. Having worked in the paint industry for over 20 years, in 1986 he became the owner and operator of Latham Paint Center, Inc. His son James Jr. continues to run the business.
James will be remembered for his love of music. He was a talented piano and accordion player. He could be seen playing his music in clubs and bars in the area. In his youth he was a passionate Irish Football player. It was a hobby that he continued once in America.
Seamus is predeceased by his beloved wife, Marjorie, and his two brothers; John and Vincent.
He is survived by his loving son, James T. Egan Jr., his siblings; Monica (John) Shanahan, Desmond (Patricia) Egan, and Dermot (Theresa) Egan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 4:00pm-8:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110, on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10:00am. Burial will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
Seamus was an animal lover and donations may be made in his name to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Albany, NY 12204
