James C. Stapleton, Sr.

Schenectady- James C. Stapleton, Sr., 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2024 with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late George and Irene Stapleton. James was the devoted husband to Karen A. Stapleton. They were married 53 years.

James worked as a Machinist for General Electric until his retirement. 

James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and riding motorcycles. He was an avid fisher and bowler. Most of all, James was a huge fan of the Mets.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Sandra (David) Warren, Diane Cross, James (Jennifer) Stapleton, Jr., and Linda (Mindo Alvarez) Stapleton; grandchildren, Taylor Cross, Nicholas Poirier, Elizabeth Cross, Owen Stapleton, and Nathan Stapleton; sister, Maureen (the late Martin) Kelly; and many family and friends. 

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York 12306 on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 9:00am to 10:00am. A funeral mass will be held St. Luke's Church, 1241 State St, Schenectady, NY 12304 at 11:00am. Burial will follow the mass at St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Ave, Menands, NY 12204.
