GUILDERLAND – James W. Vinci, 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Westmere Home for Adults. Born in Middletown CT, he was the son of the late Sebastiano and Giuseppina (Pitruzzello) Vinci. He was also predeceased by his wife Nancy (Garnham) Vinci and his sister, Lucy Misenti.
Jim is survived by his loving children, Lynn Jarvis (Ed), Nancy Jo Vinci (Al), Jim Vinci (Leisha) and Michael Vinci; his sister, Grace Montie; his brother, Dr. Joseph Vinci and several nieces and nephews.
Jim served in the US Navy during WWII. After being honorably discharged, he earned his CPA from Bryant College. Jim was a partner with Westmere Beverage, but went on to open and operate his own store, the Delmar Beverage Center, Inc., with his children and wife Nancy. He was a parishioner at Christ the King Church. Jim enjoyed spending winters in Florida with family and friends and playing poker with the neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Avenue, Guilderland. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. The parish family of Christ the King will gather on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home for a service for prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be held at Memory Gardens in Colonie.
