COLONIE – James William Cossey Sr., 80, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Stratton VA Medical Center.
James was born on September 5, 1933 in Westport, NY and was the son of the late Gerald and Lena (McCarthy) Cossey. He was also predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Carol A. (Snedecor) Cossey and two sisters, Gloria Johnson and Geraldine Carell.
James served proudly in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He was a truck driver for Sousa Sons in Green Island and then retired from North Colonie School District. He loved camping, bowling and football with his favorite team being the Dallas Cowboys.
James is survived by his loving children, James (Sharon) Cossey Jr., Kenneth (Kari Lester) Cossey and Bonnie (Thomas) Roark; his brother, Gary Cossey; his grandchildren, Mandy Cossey, Kyle (Antoinette) Cossey, Jason (Sherri) Cossey, Amanda Lester, Tara (Andrew) Childress, Thomas Roark Jr. and Christina Roark; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at VA Hospice and hospital for their kindness and compassion.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at the convenience.
