Jane (Klimek) Coogan

d. January 29, 2008

ALBANY - Jane (Klimek) Coogan, 83, of Albany, passed peacefully into everlasting life on January 29, 2008, surrounded by her family. Jane was born on June 16, 1924 to John and Mary (Kesicki) Klimkiewicz in Johnstown, P.A., but lived most of her life in Albany.
Throughout her life Jane remained dedicated to her family as well as her convictions. She was a devout Christian whose faith in God never wavered. When the troubles of the world came to her, Jane turned to her Bible for answers, and in there she consistently found solace and peace. She was a devoted wife and mother who raised four children over the course of 40 years, priding each of them for their unique talents and aspirations. She provided unwavering encouragement and remained relentlessly and deeply proud of them, regardless of the paths they took in life. She will be deeply missed by her children, particularly for the warmth of her heart and the depth of her love. Over the years she was active in many educational and proactive community programs and associations including Girl Scouts of America, Parent Teacher's Association, Operation Wake-up and her local Neighborhood Association, with which she was the local Membership Chairman for most of the 1980's. In addition Jane was a very hard worker. She was a savvy, intelligent businesswoman with a knack for finding solutions to problems that seemed impossible to solve, and an inherent unwillingness to take "no" for an answer. With initial roles working at the NYS Legislature she eventually took to task a new career that played to her strongest skills. Over the course of 30+ years while working as a real estate agent for O'Connor Sullivan and Robert's Realty she brokered deals that assisted countless families and individuals to attain their dreams of home ownership. Unlike many in her field, she developed lifelong friendships and bonds with her clients as a result of her undying dedication and unique personal touch. In her off time and particularly in her later years Jane and her husband John would depart for the tranquility of their camp in the Helderburg hills. It was there that she took comfort in God's creation and glowed in the presence of her family. Jane will be remembered fondly for her business sense, tenacious strength, love, advice and counsel and remarkable wisdom. Above all she will be remembered for the power of her prayers and faith, which will resonate and live forever in the hearts and minds of her family and friends.
Jane was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John F. Coogan, who passed away in March of 2007; her daughter, Colleen (Coogan) Monje, who passed away in August of 2006; and by her seven siblings, Lottie, Stanley, Sophie, Felix, Adeline, Teresa, and Edward. Jane is survived by her daughters, Janice (Coogan) Hunter and Carol (Strausman) Coogan of Albany; her son, John Michael Coogan of Philadelphia, PA; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb 2nd at 10 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb 1st from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
