Janet "Jan" L. Gaumond

Janet L. Gaumond, aged 87, beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Gaumond, formerly of Guilderland, passed peacefully at Ellis Hospital in the early morning hours of January 31th. Janet was born June 18, 1935 in Bridgeport, CT to Elsie (Fryer) Findlay and Alexander Findlay of Stratford CT.

She attended Stratford, CT schools. As a teenager, Janet was involved with Sterling House, a community organization, in Stratford CT as a performer and instructor of puppetry. She was a gifted artist and crafter. She was involved with Mill Hill Missions and their programs in the late 60s – 70s until the organization moved from the area. Most recently, she was a Master Gardener with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County for many years. She was also always more than willing to assist with any and all gardening and craft projects.

Janet met her husband Joseph and they were married in Straftford CT on June 11, 1960. They started their life together in Forest Hills, Queens, NYC and relocated in the mid 1960s to Guilderland, NY where until his death they spent their lives.

She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Gaumond of Schenectady, grandchildren Jacqueline, Crystal, Sara, Dale, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Joseph, she was predeceased by her daughter Janet.

Visitation will be 9:00 am - 10:00 am Thursday February 9,2023 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205, followed by a Funeral Mass at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Avenue, Albany, NY 12203. Interment with her husband, Joseph, at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, NY, will follow the Funeral Mass.
