She was born October 5, 1924 in Hoosick Falls to the late Leo and Lulu Belle (Stevens) Hynick.
Janet married Richard Lindemann of Albany on January 31, 1948. After Richard died in 1966, the family moved from Syracuse to Colonie where Janet worked as a cafeteria monitor at Veeder School, and then for the NYS Department of Labor from 1976 to 1995.
Nana was always there for her children and grandchildren. She was a rock, raising four children by herself, and later always ready to help out with the grandkids.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Richard in 1966, her brother Robert Hynick in 1968, and her sister Jean Nolan in 2007.
Janet is survived by her loving children, Susan (John) Hoffman of Hoosick Falls, Mark (Janice) Lindemann of Rotterdam, Paul (late Susan) Lindemann of Schenectady and Peter (Eileen) Lindemann of Cobleskill; grandchildren, Sarah (Steve) Stearns, Emily (Brian) Sypek, Richard (Dawn) Lindemann, Daniel (Trish) Lindemann, Joshua (Ruth) Lindemann, Jared Lindemann, Michael Bender, Thomas (Jillian) Bender, Leslie (Jay) McClintock, Christopher Lindemann, and Matthew (Angelica) Lindemann; great-grandchildren, Owen Sypek, Landon Sypek, Garret Sypek, Emily Lindemann, Ava Lindemann, Peyton Lindemann, Nicholas Lindemann, Michael Lindemann, Leah Lindemann, Adrian Lindemann, Samuel Lindemann, Gregory Bender, Alisha Bender, Connor McClintock – and another great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2 from 11am-noon, with a service following at noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, New York. Officiant will be Father Peter C. Schellhase of St. Michael's Episcopal Church.
Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, 303 Sand Creek Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
