COLONIE – Janet M. Richburg, 92, of Colonie, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 after a brief illness.
She was born in Albany on July 27, 1930 a daughter of the late Charles and Anastasia Kabrehl.
She married James F. Richburg on August 27, 1950. They were together for fifty-seven years before his passing in 2008.
Janet was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved to read. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening and was an extremely talented seamstress, creating everything from costumes to wedding dresses.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Joan in 1976; her sister, Agnes and her brother, Charles.
Janet is survived by her children, Janice (Patrick) Comly, Jean (John) Rockenstire, Judy (Richard) Greg, James C. (Cynthia) Richburg and Joyce (Edward) Kays; her 9 grandchildren, Christopher and Gregory Comly; Jay, Jill, Jerry and Johnny Rockenstire; James and Gavin Richburg and Stephanie Kays; one great grandson, Lucas Carder; a sister, Mary Badcock and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Funeral Liturgy of the Word will be held at 10 am on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Drive, Albany. Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Donations may be made in Janet's memory to the West Albany Fire Dept., 113 Sand Creek Road, Albany, NY 12205. Online condolences may be expressed at www.NewComerAlbany.com
