COLONIE – Janis M. Smith, 69, passed away on Monday, October 07, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Oak Hill, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Rose VanEps. Janis lived in Saratoga and Schenectady for most of her life. She worked for the Visiting Nurses Association in Schenectady until her illness.
Janis is the beloved mother of Patricia Hmura of Sebring, FL, James Smith of Schenectady and the late Kathy Smith. She is the loving sister of Barbara Evans, Linda Santiago and the late Raymond, Nancy, Thomas, Ronald and Peter. Also surviving is her cherished grandson, Michael Makin.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Reformed Church, 705 Curry Rd., Schenectady, NY 12306. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Ave., Suite 110, Albany, NY 12210 in memory of Janis M. Smith.
