Jannie B. Campbell

Mrs. Jannie Bell (Porterfield) Campbell was Born March 1st, 1940, In Georgetown County, South Carolina, to the marital union between Mr. Charles Porterfield Sr. and Elouise SmallsPorterfield. Her parents, husband Leo (Tex) Campbell Sr. and four siblings, Charlie (Woody) Porterfield, George Porterfield, Sandy (Pow Wow) Porterfield and John Henry Porterfield all preceded her in Death.

After the death of her parents, Jannie and her siblings were raised by their maternal Grandmother, Jannie Smalls,affectionately known as (Ma Jannie.)

Jannie Campbell’s education was the public Schools of Georgetown County, S.C. and she attended Howard HighSchool. Jannie left Georgetown County in 1962 after the birth of her oldest son Kenneth Ervin Porterfield. She moved to Albany New York and gave birth to a second son Gregory John Porterfield in 1963. In 1967, Jannie married Leo (Tex) Campbell Sr. She then gave birth to a third son, Leo Campbell Jr.

Jannie displayed a strong work ethic and has held a multitude of Jobs over the years. She worked for Montgomery Wards, Hilton Hotel, Sterling Winthrop and Regeron where she retired as a calibration specialist.

Jannie enjoyed activities such as bowling, bingo, going to casinos and traveling to visit family. When she was home, she would be perched in her window overlooking the parking area while watching sporting events on the television such as football, Basketball or Baseball. She was a diehard Mets and Giants Fan.

On 23 January 2025, while a patient at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY, God called her from labor to reward. Her passingleaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, which include, Sisters Helen Porterfield Ryals, Albany NY, Mary Porterfield Kinlaw, Georgetown SC, three Sons, Kenneth Ervin Porterfield (Donna), Albany NY, Gregory John Porterfield(Wilma), Raleigh NC and Leo Campbell Jr. (Traci), Albany NY. She leaves behind six grandchildren, Nygel Porterfield(Amexia)Charlotte, NC, Sean Porterfield US Air Force, Germany, Amyrah Porterfield, Albany NY, Dr. MalcolmPorterfield, New Mexico, Ireyanna S. Porterfield, Raleigh NC, Nevaeh Campbell, Albany NY and four Great Grandchildren,Jerimiah Gordine, Nygel Porterfield II, Alexia Porterfield and Nazir Porterfield, Charlotte NC, nieces, Darletha Denson, andFelicia Lewis, Moreno California, Beatrice A Ryals, Mesa,Arizona, nephew Roderick Kinlaw, Columbia, SC and a host ofcousins from Georgetown SC, nieces and nephews from Schenectady NY; numerous loving relatives and friends.
