Jay Frank Secor Jr., 76, of Albany, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at Albany Medical Center.
Born February 4, 1948, in Albany, New York, he was the son of the late Jay F. and Jeanette Secor.
Mr. Secor attended Guilderland High School and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Jay often spoke of his love for the Navy that allowed him to see the world. He was an airplane mechanic working on aircraft carriers. Some of his favorite bases were Sigonella/Italy, Mildenhall/England, Miramar/San Diego, Bermuda and Brunswick/Maine. Following 22 years of service, Jay returned to Guilderland. He earned degrees from HVCC and The College of St. Rose.
Jay was an avid bowler and was well known in that community. He was in several leagues and competitions. His passion for the sport grew from childhood bowling both at Westlawn and Town & Country Lanes. He had acquired over 100 bowling balls. Jay was very knowledgeable about College and National football. He was devoted to NY Teams but loved watching an exciting game no matter who won. Other interests included computer construction and technology, and large model airplane construction.
Jay survived by his sister Virginia (Frank) of Castleton, nephew Justin of East Greenbush, niece, Jessica (Scott) of Hudson, and several cousins.
Friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. Interment to follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Western Ave. Guilderland, NY.
A luncheon will follow for immediate and extended family.
