ALBANY, NY – Jayne Biernacki, 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence McDonald. Mrs. Biernacki worked for the New York State Thruway Authority from where she retired. After her retirement, she worked as a draftsman. Jayne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved spending time with her great-granddaughter, Katy. Jayne loved her pets and was an avid reader. She enjoyed following local and state politics. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to Henry E. Biernacki until his passing in 2008. Jayne is the devoted mother of Lawrence H. (Carol) Biernacki of Hudson. She is the cherished grandmother of Elizabeth (John) Stegmayer of Saugerties, Christopher (Heather) Biernacki of Lenox, MA and Melissa Rimipici of Goshen, NY. Also surviving are her five adored great-grandchildren, Katy, Kayla, Jeremy, Jack and Danny. Jayne was predeceased by her loving sister and best friend, Betty Wilsey.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. The family requests that there be no flowers. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in memory of Jayne Biernacki.
