ALBANY – Jean C. Chang, 76, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Albany Medical Center.
Jean was born in Jamaica, West Indies and was the daughter of the late George Valentine and Eulalia Spence Codrington and the beloved wife of the late Edward C. Chang. She graduated from Ardenne High School in Kingston, Jamaica. Jean was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She worked for Guardian Life Insurance Co. and Partners in Care in Manhattan, NY for many years before retiring in 1995. She loved traveling, crocheting, gardening, reading, music, attending concerts and plays, but most especially spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed going to baseball games especially her NY Yankees.
Jean is the loving mother of Natasha A. Chang of Albany and the late Jonelle Chang-Moses; cherished grandmother of Rickie Massie, Jr., Shyne Massie and Carrie Massie all of Albany; loving sister of Ingrid Codrington of Brooklyn, NY, Ouida (Martin) Ross of Sunrise, FL and the late Dennis Codrington. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Albany on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
