Jean H. Johnston, 61, passed away on February 13, 2010 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Jean was born in the Bronx and later moved to Albany in 1981. She was employed by the State of New York for thirty years. First with the Department of Labor, later with the Office of Temporary Disability. Retiring from the Office of Disability Determinations after a career of over twenty years. She left behind a position and co-workers she truly missed.
Jean is survived by her husband John McNeill who shared thirty years together. Her brothers; William Johnston and his wife Helen Boritch, Robert Johnston and his wife Helen Fogarassy. As well as her good friend Linda Aponte.
The family would like to thank all of Jean's friends for their support especially Carol Wakeley, Phyllis Bloodstein, Stephanie Houser and Frank and Marybeth Bonafide. Special appreciation to the many staff of Saint Peter's Hospital whose care and compassion eased a difficult illness.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-South of Central Ave). Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Jean's memory to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12214.
