Jean F. Michaniw, 75, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at St. Peter's Hospital. Jean was the daughter to the late Francis and Frances Ryan.
Jean graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1967 before furthering her studies at the College of St. Rose, where she earned a Master's degree in Music Education. Her love for music was not only a career but a lifelong passion that resonated deeply within her.
For 36 years, she imparted her love of music to the young minds at Ichabod Crane Primary School. Even after her retirement, Jean continued to inspire others by teaching music at St. Kateri Tekakwitha for three more years.
Jean shared a wonderful life with her beloved husband, Michael Michaniw, her son, Ryan (Amber) Michaniw; stepchildren Denice, Joseph (Shannon) Michaniw, Michael (Carol) Michaniw, and Timothy Michaniw; her brother, James (Elaine) Ryan and grandchildren: Oliver, Haleigh, and Abigail as well as "her peeps." Jean is also survived by her cherished mother-in-law, Bette Michaniw, and sister-in-law, JoAnn (Arthur) Pape.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her father-in-law, Joseph Michaniw.
Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who had unconditional love for all those close to her. In turn, she was dearly loved by those fortunate enough to be in her orbit. She was a non-judgemental, caring, gentle and patient soul who has left a huge void in the lives of those who loved her.
